Overview
In Kerio Operator, administrators can connect multiple Kerio Operator servers. This is useful to directly reach remote phones by their extensions for free, and send or receive external calls through a relay server. This article provides the steps to connect the two servers.
Information
Prerequisites
-
You must have two Kerio Operator servers up and running.
-
You need the extension schemes for both phone networks, each of them with a unique set of extensions.
-
Both servers must have public IP addresses, or be connected to the same network with a VPN tunnel.
In the example used in this article, the servers have the below settings:
-
The Main Server has internal extensions
100 - 199
. -
The Branch Server has internal extensions
300 - 399
.
Process
To accomplish this task, you need to add a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) interface on the Main and Branch servers.
-
In the administration interface, navigate to Configuration > Call Routing > Interfaces and routing of incoming calls.
-
Click Add SIP interface. The Add SIP Interface window opens.
-
Enter a name for the interface, choose the Link to another PBX (Without an external number) option, and click Next when you are done.
-
In the Prefix to reach the other PBX field, under Outgoing calls, enter the appropriate number on each server:
-
In the Main Server, enter the prefix
3
(the first digit of each extension on the Branch Server). -
In the Branch Server, enter the prefix
1
(the first digit of each extension on the Main Server).
-
-
Click Next.
-
In the Domain (IP address/hostname) field, enter the domain or IP address for the Main and Branch Server accordingly:
-
Uncheck the Required to register box and click Next.
-
Confirm the information in the Summary section.
-
Click Finish.
Confirmation
After the configuration of interfaces is complete, Kerio Operator creates incoming and outgoing routes that use configured prefixes. These routes do not rewrite any numbers. Make test calls between the connected servers to reach their extensions.
Example of a Test Call
Call the number 305
from the extension 110
on the Main Server:
-
The user with an extension
110
dials the number305
. -
Kerio Operator on the Main Server recognizes the prefix
3
and routes the call to the branch server. -
The call arrives at the Branch Server and rings on the
305
extension.
